Getting your FIT results
After you’ve done the FIT and returned the test kit to the lab, the lab will send your results to your healthcare provider and the Alberta Colorectal Cancer Screening Program within Alberta Health Services ( ‘About’ ).
If you’re between the ages of 50 and 74, the Alberta Colorectal Cancer Screening Program will mail your FIT test results to you. If you are younger than 50 or over 74, you won’t be sent a letter in the mail; your healthcare provider will follow-up with you about your FIT result.
There are 2 types of FIT results:
FIT Normal Result ( Normal FIT result): this means no blood was found in the stool.
FIT Abnormal Result (Abnormal result): this means blood was found in the stool.
