After entering an access code and answering a few questions, you’ll be asked to provide your name, address and contact information. We need this information to mail your free Cervix Self-Screening Test Kit and your results.
Collecting your sample is easy and painless. Your sample is mailed to the lab using the pre-paid envelope that comes with your kit.
The lab will test your sample for high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV). HPV can cause abnormal cells to develop in your cervix. When abnormal cell changes are found early, the cells can be treated so that cervical cancer doesn’t develop.
Your results should be available within 4 to 6 weeks. If high-risk HPV is found, you’ll need a follow-up Pap test or colposcopy. We’ll contact you if you need follow-up testing.
For more information on colposcopy or Pap tests, visit: Videos related to Cervical Cancer screening - Screening For Life | Screening For Life

For this research project, cervix self-screening is only available to a small number of eligible people. Getting screened regularly is still the most important thing you can do to protect yourself against cervical cancer. Please talk to a healthcare provider about when you should have your next screening test.
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please see a doctor or healthcare provider as soon as possible:
If you need help finding a family doctor: visit Find A Doctor (albertafindadoctor.ca) or call Health Link at 8-1-1.
You may be eligible for cervix self-screening if ALL the below apply to you.
If any of the above apply to you, contact your healthcare provider to discuss your options. Cervix self-screening may not be the right screening test for you, but screening is still the most important thing you can do to protect yourself against cervical cancer.
See your healthcare provider right away if you notice vaginal bleeding between periods, after sexual intercourse or after menopause.
