Other Cancers
Screening for other types of cancer may be beneficial for some people
Alberta Health Services Screening Programs is limited to three types of cancer screening. Currently there isn’t enough evidence showing that other types of cancer screening will reduce the number of cancers or deaths across large populations. It may also cause more harm than benefit to those who are screened.
However, tests for cancers such as lung, prostate, skin or ovarian cancer may still be useful for individuals depending on your personal risk and history. If you have any concerns about these other types of cancer, speak to your health care provider.
